11 Insane Luka Doncic Facts

As we approach the end of the playoffs for Luka Doncic, we can’t help but draw comparisons to the greats that have come before him. It seems that Luka is abliterating records that the likes of Jordan, Lebron, Kareem and even Wilt have held for some time.

1. Luka has more 40 point playoff games than Dirk Nowitzki

Dirk played 21 season in the NBA, all with the Dallas Mavericks – so it is very surprising that Luka has more 40 point playoff games than him. Especially considering Dirk has played in 145 playoff games compared to Luka’s 20!

2. Luka was the youngest ever player to play for Real Madrid at 16

At 18 Luka won the 2018 EuroLeague title, winning the EuroLeague MVP as well as the Final Four MVP.

3. Lukas favourite player is Lebron James

Luka may want to throw his hat into the ring in regards to the GOAT debate. Not suprising considering their style of play is very similar – both are historic playmakers and both have dragged garbage teams to the playoffs in their early years.

4. Luka was named to the EuroLeague 2010-20 All-Decade Team

Being named to an All-Decade team has got to put you into some elite company. Bogdan Bogdanović from Serbia was also named into the EuroLeague 2010-20 All-Decade Team.

5. Luka won the ABC best young player award twice in both 2017 an 2018

6. Luka’s girlfriend is his childhood sweetheart

Anamaria Goltes, Luka’s girlfriend of over six years met in Croatia. She is a model and influencer. Lucky for Mavs fans he is very loyal!

7. Luke is averaging 39 points per game in elimination games, the highest in NBA history

I’ll say that again, highest in NBA history. Higher than Jordan, Lebron, Kareem and even Wilt!

8. Luka has the record for the most consecutive games with 20 points, five assists, and five rebounds

Luka stole this record from Michael Jordan himself at the age of just 20!

9. Luka is the first player in NBA history to post 30+ points, 12+ rebounds, and 15+ assists in a game with 30 or fewer minutes played

This stat just backs up how impressive Luka is at all areas of the game.

10. Luka is the youngest NBA player to record a 30-point, 20-rebound triple-double

Luka beat Lebron James, Oscar Roberton and Russell Westbrook to secure this title.

11. Luka has the most playoff Triple-Doubles through seven playoff games

Luka secure his third triple double in 2021 game 1 against Los Angeles Clipper. Super impressive considering it was his 7th playoff game ever. No other NBA player has played their first 7 playoff games and gotten 3 tripple-doubles.

named 2021-2022 All NBA First Team.

The winners of the All NBA teams have come in:

All NBA First Team

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo
  • Luke Doncic
  • Nicola Jokic
  • Devin Booker
  • Jayson Tatum

Some takeaways

Luka has made All NBA first team 3 times out of his first 4 seasons – see our first 4 year comparison between Luka, MJ and LeBron

It has been a great season for Celtics wing Jayson Tatum who is arguably top 10 in the league right now. We await the results of this post season to see if he can add some silverware to this incredible season.

Despite losing to the Celtics, Giannis is one of the best players in the league and proves it on a nightly basis. Giannis seems to be constantly evolving, adding shooting to his game in the past couple of years to make him a nightmare to defend.

All NBA Second Team

  • Kevin Durant
  • Stephen Curry
  • DeMar DeRozan
  • Joel Embiid
  • Ja Morant

Some takeaways

A bit dissapointing for big man Joel Embiid not making the All NBA First Team despite coming runner up in MVP voting. Unfortunately it has always been the policy that the All NBA teams should have 1 center, 2 guards and 2 wings.

Great news for DeMar DeRozan who although struggled in the playoffs, had a fantastic regular season.

All NBA Third Team

  • LeBron James
  • Chris Paul
  • Karl Anthony-Towns
  • Pascal Saikam
  • Tre Young

Some takeaways

LeBron taking home his 18th All NBA trophy despite being in the league for 19 years. Suprising he dropped to 3rd team averaging 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists in 56 games this season. Not all too surprising as the Lakers didn’t make the playoffs and had a historically bad season.
