Charles Barkley has once again hinted that he is ready to quit his job of television analyst on Inside the NBA for Turner Sports.

Charles Barkley has once again hinted that he is ready to quit his job of television analyst on Inside the NBA for Turner Sports.

During Thursday’s broadcast while the Golden State Warriors were playing the Dallas Mavericks in game 3 of the 2022 Western Conference Finals, Chuck said,

“I normally don’t care, like this Golden State-Dallas, I don’t care who wins. Boston against Miami. I don’t care who wins. You know what I care about, right? I’m ready for this to be over, so I can go play golf and fish every day”

He spoke on Ryan Russilo’s podcast before game 2;

“I mean, your job is to make sure people enjoy the sport. You, hopefully, you have good games, but when you, when you’re announcer, you want an analyst, whatever, I’m not sure what the hell I am, to be honest with you. You want people to respond to whatever you say. So whether you boo me or cheer me, as long as they. … I’m like Roman Reigns. As long as they acknowledge me, I’m doing my job.”

Not the first time…

This isn’t the first time the 1993 MVP has shown dissinterest with the NBA and its teams.

In February of 2022, Charles said that he is likely to retire once his contract with Turner Sports has ended – which has two years left. Chuck explained,

“I don’t want to die on TV. I want to die on the golf course or somewhere fishing,”

Charles, who is now 59 years old regularly talks about his love for golf and fishing. Many fans have speculated that his comments could be the cause of his two teams, Phoenix Suns and Philidelphia 76ers are no longer in the playoffs after both teams willfully underperformed.

What could be next?

There have been rumblings that Golden State’s Draymond Green has been eyeing up Chuck’s seat on Inside the NBA. However, with two years still left on his contract which is paying him $25,806,468 and $27,586,224 respectively, that seems far fetched for now. Not to mention the Warriors are heading to the NBA finals with Draymond still competing at a high level.

The Warriors have mirraculously managed to start developing an exciting young core of Poole, Kuminga, Gary Payton Jr, Moody and Wiseman while still keeping their big three of Curry, Klay and Draymond intact – something that might keep the Warriors relevant and competative for years to come.

The Fantastic Four

Fans are likely to be upset the day Charles hangs up the microphone, splitting up the famous four of Shaq, Ernie Johnson, Kenny and Charles. They have been together since 2011 and have provided some excellent enterainment over the years.

Who will argue with Shaq about rings? Who will provide brilliant comments about San Antonio women? All we can do is  hope Charles has at least a few more year’s left in the tank.
